Joba Will Close if Mo is Injured
Joba Chamberlain would close if Mariano Rivera misses any significant portion of the season. Yankee Officials decided this yesterday. It is kind of ironic considering Mo only needed 11 pitches to get out of his one inning of work against the Pirates. Mariano has 482 career saves in his legendary career. Damaso Marte and Brian Bruney are expected to be the Yankees top choices for the set up role in the 8th inning. Reffering to Brian Bruney a Yankee Official said “Let’s see him handle the 8th inning first”.

Hideki is Strictly a DH Until July
Hideki Matsui is strictly a DH until July.
Not a surprise considering that they got a crowded outfield.
He hasn’t put his surgically repaired knee to the full test
yet. “I think it should be fine,” Matsui said through an
interpreter. “As long as I don’t have any setbacks and I
don’t have any huge problems with my knees, it’s not
something that I’m concerned about.” That quote from
yankees.com. He’s feeling well and has produced well from the
DH spot. So Godzilla is happy and this is the end of this
story. Yankees in 2009!!!!
Youkilis leaves Team USA, Longoria Willing to Step In
Kevin Youkilis has left team USA with what is being described as a “sore ankle”. This won’t effect the offense that much considering he has batting average of .181 but he has 3 homers. He was a great spark to the team. Team USA really did benefit from him being there. Adam Dunn will be the 1st basemen unless they find another solution for the Semi-Finals. Youk’s most memorable at-bat in the WBC was his 11 pitch AB vs Venezuela in which he hit a homer.

Evan Longoria is willing to take the place of Chipper Jones for the Semi-Finals and Finals (If they make it). Longoria said he would join if Team USA if they invite him. Longoria has been fighting a virus but he’s ready to play. Joe Maddon wants him to play in the World Baseball Classic if he gets the chance.
Aaron Boone to Have Surgery
Former Red Sox killer Aaron Boone is going to have open-heart surgery to replace an aortic valve. This was not an emergency but Boone’s doctors say that the procedure is neccesary. Aaron is currently with the Astros. He is told he’ll be able to play baseball again, but he is not sure if he will. If he doesn’t he’ll always be remembered for that night in October.
