Bombers Face Blue Jays
The Yankees will play Toronto tonight in Tampa. The Yankees will send out AJ Burnett to start the game for the Yankees. He pitched four perfect innings his last time out. Burnett also played for the Blue Jays for the last three seasons. The Yankees are undefeated in their last five games going into today. The Blue Jays will send out Casey Jannsen who is battling for a spot in Toronto’s rotation. He has a 1.80 ERA in two spring appearances.

Spring Training Report: First Week
First week of spring training running down and this is what we learned…. A-Rod wants to play baseball, well he got his wish.
On Wednesday A-Rod and the Yankees made their Spring Training debut against the Toronto
Blue Jays in Dunedin, Florida. In the top of the first inning Brett Gardner was leading off, and he hits a home run to right field. A-Rod on his second at-bat after drawing a walk on his first, hits a home run to deep left center field. Yankees win 6-1.
On Thursday the Yanks make their Spring home debut against the Tampa Bay Rays and Mark Teixieria is making his debut in the Pinstripes. Phil Hughes got the start. Tex in his first at-bat hits a line drive single to right field, his first hit as a Yankee. A-Rod would ground into a double play to end the inning. Shelley Duncan later in the game hits a 3-Run blast to deep left field to extend the Yankee lead. Yankees win 5-1.
Friday Yankees play the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers, Florida. Ian Kennedy gets the start for the Yanks he was cruising. In the top of the 2nd inning Justin Leone batting against Scott Baker and he hits a Solo shot. Brett Gardner hit a double and had a stolen base.

Henderson and Rice Honored
Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice were inducted in to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York today. Rickey Henderson who is the all-time leader in stolen bases played for the Oakland Atheletics, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Anaheim Angels, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He stole 1,406 bases in his 25 seasons. He has the most steals in a postseason series with 8 in the 1989 ALCS. He was a hired as a special instructor for the New York Mets in 2006 and his impact showed as Jose Reyes became a stealing machine. He was quoted saying “I always want to be around the game.”
Jim Rice played his entire career in a Boston Red Sox uniform. He was an 8 time American League All-Star. He won the Silver Slugger Award in 1983 and 1984. He was also named the 1978 AL Most Valuable player. He had 382 career home runs and 1,451 RBI’s.

Burnett Joins Revamped Yankees Staff
AJ Burnett has joined CC Sabathia in the Yankees revamped pitching rotation. He agreed to a 82.5 Million dollar contract that will give him 5 years in the Bronx. AJ was with the Blue Jays last season and had a wonderful year for a struggling team. He led the MLB in strikeouts. He went 18-10 with a 4.07 ERA. He will be asked to restore the Yankees back to domination and the World Series.
