Yankees Split Squads for 2 Matchups Today
The New York Yankees will play the Astros and the Pirates today. I don’t know how they are planning to split up but AJ Burnett is expected to pitch in one of the games. He threw two shutout innings in his last game and that is showing some really early promise. Brett Gardner and Melky Cabrera are too close to call still. You can see the games here on MLB.tv.

Yankees vs Red Sox: The Rivalry Continues
Okay its just Spring Training, but it is still baseball no matter how painful it is to watch the errors and the 10 run games in the bottom of the 5th. To the game tonight. Yankees play the Red Sox tonight (Game can be seen on MLB Network). This should be an okay game, I mean its not like we’re gonna have a game go down to the wire with the emotions of a late September game. I expect to see some good performances tonight. Brett Gardner in the lead-off spot should give a spark in the top of the order. Wang hopefully will get lots of grounders to get work done early. David Ortiz and Jason Bay are back for the Sox as they had early exits in the World Baseball Classic.

Spring Training Report: First Week
First week of spring training running down and this is what we learned…. A-Rod wants to play baseball, well he got his wish.
On Wednesday A-Rod and the Yankees made their Spring Training debut against the Toronto
Blue Jays in Dunedin, Florida. In the top of the first inning Brett Gardner was leading off, and he hits a home run to right field. A-Rod on his second at-bat after drawing a walk on his first, hits a home run to deep left center field. Yankees win 6-1.
On Thursday the Yanks make their Spring home debut against the Tampa Bay Rays and Mark Teixieria is making his debut in the Pinstripes. Phil Hughes got the start. Tex in his first at-bat hits a line drive single to right field, his first hit as a Yankee. A-Rod would ground into a double play to end the inning. Shelley Duncan later in the game hits a 3-Run blast to deep left field to extend the Yankee lead. Yankees win 5-1.
Friday Yankees play the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers, Florida. Ian Kennedy gets the start for the Yanks he was cruising. In the top of the 2nd inning Justin Leone batting against Scott Baker and he hits a Solo shot. Brett Gardner hit a double and had a stolen base.
