Joba Will Close if Mo is Injured

Joba Chamberlain would close if Mariano Rivera misses any significant portion of the season. Yankee Officials decided this yesterday. It is kind of ironic considering Mo only needed 11 pitches to get out of his one inning of work against the Pirates. Mariano has 482 career saves in his legendary career. Damaso Marte and Brian Bruney are expected to be the Yankees top choices for the set up role in the 8th inning. Reffering to Brian Bruney a Yankee Official said “Let’s see him handle the 8th inning first”.

Bruney Ready to be the 8th Inning Man

The new slimer Brian Bruney is ready to be the set-up man for Mariano Rivera. Not just in his mind, but in minds around Yankee baseball. He has been performing excellently this spring. I think he’s ready. If he’s earned it give it to him and if he messes this up give it to someone else. Case closed.

The Yankees defeated the Phillies easily today with a 20 hit attack. Brett Gardner had a triple and an RBI. Austin Jackson, Jose Molina, Nick Swisher, Xavier Nady, Kevin Cash, Ramiro Pena, and Shelley Duncan all collected RBI’s. Joba Chamberlain pitched 3 innings, fanned 3 hitters, allowed 2 hits, and walked 1 batter. Kei Igawa, Brian Bruney, Jonathan Albaladejo, and David Robertson also had good pitching performances today.

Nady, Bruney, and Cabrera File for Arbitration

Well 111 players filed for arbitration and 3
of them or players on the Yankees. For some who don’t know
what arbitration is, it is a court hearing the clubs point
out everything the player does wrong and the player has to
try to counter that with what he does right. Okay back to
these three guys. The only person I can see having a chance
at winning his case is Xavier Nady, he put up the best
numbers and played great in the second half of the season.
Melky Cabrera would have a better case if he played as well
this year as he has in previous years, for this case very
little chance. Brian Bruney probably won’t have that great of
a chance either he is a middle of the road reliver and puts
up okay stats so maybe he could get a little reward maybe a
million.
